Tips For Making Banquet Rooms Look Pretty For Special Events

If you have a large guest list for a special event and need ample space, consider renting a banquet room. These large event venues are typically either stand-alone spaces or part of a restaurant or hotel. Banquet rooms are convenient in that you can easily decorate them to fit your specific needs.

Because they're generally used for a wide variety of event purposes, banquet rooms may have a basic, nondescript appearance. The rooms often feature neutral-colored furniture, paint, and accents, but that can play the perfect backdrop for whatever decoration theme or color scheme you're using. You can add plenty of visual interest to the space with the right decor pieces.

Banquet rooms are ideal for a wide range of special events and occasions, including kids' and adults' birthday bashes, holiday celebrations, such as Christmas and Easter, graduation parties, anniversary soirees, bridal and baby showers, and wedding receptions. These indoor spaces are perfect for times of the year with inclement weather since they're completely indoors. In some cases, however, banquet rooms may also include outdoor space, such as decks.

Here are some tips for making a banquet room look pretty for your next special event:

1. Eye-Catching Lighting Elements

If the banquet room has drab lighting, you can spice up the space with your own lighting elements. The right lighting adds both illumination and plenty of ambiance to the room. As one idea, wrap string lights around any beams or pillars in the room, as long as it's been approved by the venue staff.

Other decorative lighting options include either candles or battery-powered lanterns, which you can place down the centers of tables, and fiber optic wands. You can rent specialty items, such as LED-lit dance floors and cubes, from event companies.

2. Decorative Table Centerpieces

One way to make a big visual impact with minimal effort in a banquet room is with visually pleasing table centerpieces. Personalize the space by tailoring the centerpieces to match your party's theme, such as an English garden or a wedding, or a zoo for a child's birthday party or a baby shower.

For a fresh look ideal for the spring and summer months, fill vases with assorted flowers, which you can also enjoy at home after the event. If your celebration has a winter wonderland theme, spray paint branches silver, place them in cylindrical vases, and decorate them with small icicle ornaments. Scatter fake snow over the table to complete the look.
